Covid-19 Book of Reflection

A book of reflection has been opened online for residents to pay tribute to those who have lost their lives during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Cheshire West and Chester Council has launched the book to offer people chance to reflect on the past year and share their messages of reflection, condolence, hope and thanks.

There is also a section within the book to say ‘thank you’ to those who have made a difference during the pandemic.

Cllr Louise Gittins, Leader of Cheshire West and Chester Council, said:

“This devastating disease has claimed hundreds of lives in our borough, leaving family and friends mourning their personal loss, while the wider community mourns our loss as a society.  The nature of COVID-19 means that, as a community, we have been unable to come together in our grief as we would usually wish to when faced with loss of this magnitude.  We hope that this book offers an opportunity to do this, to share our thoughts and support one another during this incredibly difficult time.  Throughout 2020 we have seen and experienced the power of communities coming together to help and support residents in need, as well as the inspirational support and commitment shown by the nation’s tireless NHS staff and all key workers.  This is why we also wanted to offer people a place in the book to say thank you to all those who have helped and are continuing to help us all through these difficult and unprecedented times.”

The book will also be kept as a record of the tributes paid and the thanks.

Next Parish Council Meeting

Please be advised that the Parish Council Meeting scheduled for 11th January has been cancelled. It will now take place via Zoom at 7pm on Monday 18th January. The agenda will be posted on this website shortly. Members of the public are welcome to attend and can obtain log in details from the Parish Clerk on 07907 456 037.

Parking in Great Budworth

Back in April the Parish Council said it would not be taking any decisions on parking until it can once again hold meetings in the Parish Hall. However, at that time we did not envisage how long the pandemic would last. Neither did we know, as happened recently, that tighter covid-19 restrictions would be imposed in Cheshire.

We feel we can no longer keep the matter of parking on hold as it is causing uncertainty and worry in the village. We think it important that we communicate the results of the consultation held earlier this year and come to a decision on the way ahead.

So, a paper on parking will be put to the Parish Council for discussion and decision at its next meeting at 7pm on Monday 2nd November which will be held by zoom. The paper can be found below and on this website under documents / agenda. It will also be in the November issue of the Budworth Bulletin.

Any member of the public can join the meeting by requesting the zoom details from the Parish Clerk by emailing [email protected] or phoning 07907 456 037. You will then be able to speak briefly to the meeting by audio or video under the agenda item Representations from the Public.

All Councillors have already seen all responses to the consultation in full, but anyone who does not have access to zoom is welcome to submit a short written representation to the Clerk that will be read out at the meeting.

New CWAC “Report it” App

CWAC has introduced a new mobile phone App that makes reporting issues and faults on the highways, streets and green spaces of the Borough much easier. To download the App simply go to your usual App store (Apple or Android) and search for Cheshire West and Chester.

When you have the App it takes just four simple steps to log a report.

  1. Pinpoint the location on the map
  2. Take a photo of the fault
  3. Select a category and provide more information
  4. Submit

All reports are sent immediately to the relevant service to deal with, and through the ‘Report it log’ on the app it’s easy to check the status of all reports.
