Northwich High Street – petition

Just to make you aware and to ask for your help in promoting an online E- Petition set up by Ward Councillor Lynn Gibbon

which has gone live today.  Lynn wished to get action in response to being made aware by residents of the difficulty they experience when visiting Northwich town centre, especially those using wheel chairs, prams and mobility scooters, as it is a H&S nightmare for many.

Once you click on the link you can just sign, if enough signatures are received Lynn can take to full council for debating all repair issues  and hopefully get some action.

Here are the details:

We the undersigned, petition the council to take urgent action to repair and make safe the hazardous and inaccessible sections of Witton Street and High Street in Northwich town centre, including broken paving, uneven surfaces, damaged drains, and hazardous steps.

Despite repeated inspection walkabouts and commitments over several years, no substantive action has been taken. These conditions pose serious safety risks, especially to disabled residents, older people, and carers.

Multiple falls and near-misses have already been reported. This situation appears to violate the Council’s duty under the Equality Act 2010 to make reasonable adjustments for disabled people.

We request that the Council:

1. Undertakes a formal inspection of the affected area without delay.

2. Publicly commits to a timescale for repairs and reasonable adjustments.

3. Explains why these issues have persisted without resolution and identifies any internal barriers that prevented timely action.

This ePetition runs from 11/08/2025 to 22/10/2025.
